Celebrating the natural world in many different aspects, our annual print exhibition links with the themes of Flower Fairies in discovering the flora and fauna of our natural landscape.

The exhibition features the work of 8 artists from around the UK:

• Jo Barry – etchings of the trees and landscape of the New Forest

• Ian Brooks – etchings of the wild and barren landscapes of the Arctic

• Rachel Gracey – lithographs of riverscape and parks, mostly in Oxfordshire

• Clare Halifax – screenprints of flowers

• Joshua Miles – linocuts of Scottish seascapes and landscapes

• Babs Pease – linocuts of birds and fish

• Emma Reynolds – screenprints of open skies

• Julia Timmins - wood engravings of plants, fossils and shells

Between them, they represent a huge variety of approaches and styles, demonstrating how responses to the world we see can be depicted in so many different ways. From detailed wood engraving by Julia Timmins, to realistic watery linocuts by Joshua Miles, the chill-inducing empty landscape etchings of Ian Brooks, eye-popping colourful prints of birds and fish by Babs Peas, evocative and impressionistic semi-abstract riverscapes by Rachel Gracey – the variety of prints on show is enthralling.

International Mini Print Cantabria

Our passion for printmaking and especially for the format, our desire to make contemporary artists from all over the world converge in an exhibition in our land and that our people have the possibility to enjoy it, have made us to develop it and work to incorporate Cantabria to the international Mini Print circuit.

The annual exhibition of Wolverhampton Society of Artists is being held this year in the Rose Paterson Gallery at Weston Park. I will be exhibiting “Precious” and Abundance wood engravings.

The RBSA Print Prize is a biennale exhibition, which celebrates all forms of printmaking and supports artists from across the UK and further afield.

Julia is proud to be showing her wood engraving “Precious” in this exhibition and was delighted to receive a Highly Commended award for this print.

Twenty-five renowned UK artists and sculptors will be exhibiting at Holloways' first Garden Art Exhibition.
Raising money for Worcestershire Community Foundation, the event will feature a daily Meet The Artist programme.

This is a special year for the Society of Wood Engravers as we celebrate our Centenary.

It was founded in 1920 by artists including Eric Gill, Gwen Raverat, Robert Gibbings, Philip Hagreen and Lucien Pissarro.  A break during the war years and then again in the 1970s meant that the annual exhibition ceased for a time, hence this being the 82nd show. Since the revival in 1984, the SWE has built a reputation for excellence, attracting exhibitors and collectors from around the world.

The Society exists to promote wood engraving, but also embraces all forms of relief printing, which makes this show a fascinating and affordable collection of images inspired by a wide range of subjects.

Seasons Project

2016 – 2018

This is the first time that these eighty engravings that form the Seasons Project have been shown together. The project took nearly three years to complete and includes work by SWE members from this country and around the world

The decision to produce four sets of twenty engravings by each of twenty artists was partly to mark our 2020 centenary, but also as a way of showing the work of as many of our members as possible at this special time.

A group of nine diverse professional artists based in mid-Shropshire, giving people an opportunity to visit their studio-spaces to see them working and discover what inspires them on their creative journeys. This is an ideal opportunity to buy original artwork direct from the artists and gain real insights into their processes. 

From November Tŷ Pawb will host the return of the biennial Print International exhibition. Over 85 artists from 8 different countries including the US, Canada and Japan have been selected for the exhibition by a panel of judges.

‘I have had two Dry Point prints from my Venice collection selected for this international Print exhibition’.

This exhibition is a showcase for some of the best wood engravings from members of the Society of Wood Engravers who have drawn their inspiration from the coast and the countryside and the varied flora and fauna that thrive in it. Whilst contemporary wood engravers all use the same tools and techniques as those developed over 200 years ago, the prints display a huge variety of personal interpretations and styles.
