Koi

With this wood engraving I tried to capture the essence of these graceful, beautiful fish. Working in colour was an obvious choice to highlight their unique markings and the patterns they make in the water. I carefully considered the positive and negative spaces in the composition to make a harmonious image.

Engraved onto four blocks of lemonwood and pear.
