Spirit of the Sea

I am fascinated by octopi, the way they move and change shape and colour, the fact that they are highly intelligent and can be playful and inquisitive. With this engraving I was drawn to the amazing texture of the skin of this creature and the way the eight arms with all their suckers moved independently, curling and stretching to move him along the rocks. This particular octopus was in an aquarium in Crete and I studied him for a long time while he watched what I was doing!
